Release notes
Changelog
Every Android TV build, what landed, and the date it shipped.
v2.0
May 17, 2026 Current- The TV interface feels more finished. Shared rows now use smoother interruptible motion, image fade-ins, matching skeletons, and composed loading, empty, and error states across Home, Search, Library, Sources, and Detail.
- Home is more personal. Saved titles now appear directly on Home, while each row gets clearer context so browsing feels less like a raw catalog and more like a streaming shelf.
- Playback decisions are clearer. Detail pages explain auto-play/source-picking behavior, source rows highlight the best pick, and series shuffle mode is visible during playback and Up Next.
- Ambience stays polished. Ambient rows keep their daily rotation and true Random shortcut while gaining clearer row context and the recent YouTube playback fixes.
v1.3.12
May 17, 2026- Multi-addon pairing respects configured URLs. Multiple addons are now detected only when each URL is on its own line, so commas and semicolons inside Torrentio-style configuration URLs stay intact.
- Pairing instructions are clearer. The TV pairing screen and phone form now tell users to enter one addon per line.
v1.3.11
May 17, 2026- Held horizontal scrolling stays in-row. Rows now park native left/right focus on the active card while the shared row controller scrolls, preventing held navigation from dropping into the next row.
- Carousel motion is smoother. Tap and hold animations now use shorter, interruptible ease-out timing so repeated movement does not queue or stutter.
- Series Shuffle is here. The series detail page now has a Shuffle button beside season controls; it starts a random episode from any season and keeps autoplay random until the session is interrupted.
v1.3.10
May 17, 2026- Rows keep left-side context while scrolling. Once you move past the first item, the previous poster now remains visibly peeking from the left edge so it is clear there is content behind you.
v1.3.9
May 17, 2026- Row motion feels cleaner. Horizontal rows now animate one stable track instead of swapping a visible slice and ghost cell, reducing the jerky feel during taps and holds.
- Ambience Random starts where expected. The Random tile is now the first item in the top Ambience row, with initial focus support when that row opens.
- Action cards align with posters. Jump to Start and Random now share the row's poster padding and slot geometry so they sit flush with surrounding items.
v1.3.8
May 17, 2026- Rows now support press-and-hold scrolling. Hold left or right to move continuously through rows at roughly six posters per second, with timers cleaned up on release.
- Horizontal movement is smoother. Poster-to-poster row changes now animate with a short ease-out transition that interrupts cleanly during fast taps or holds.
- Rows have a Jump to Start action. Every populated row now ends with a focusable Jump to Start card, while the top Ambience row also gets a fresh Random action near the start.
v1.3.7
May 16, 2026- Rows stay put on horizontal D-pad presses. The shared row now traps native left/right focus inside the carousel while moving the row underneath the locked first slot, preventing Home rows from jumping back to the hero and Ambience rows from escaping to the side rail mid-scroll.
- Ambient YouTube playback has a new embed path. The player now owns its WebView HTML directly, supplying Marquee's HTTPS origin/referrer identity for YouTube error 153 and bridging remote play/pause commands straight into the IFrame API.
v1.3.6
May 16, 2026- Home no longer snaps back to the hero. The hero's preferred-focus flag is now removed immediately after the first mount, and Home no longer scrolls the parent view during row focus changes.
- Ambient YouTube error 153 fixed. The local YouTube iframe now loads with Marquee's HTTPS origin as its referrer identity, matching YouTube's newer embedded-player requirements.
- Ambient playback retry works. Pressing OK/play on a failed embed now clears the error and remounts the iframe instead of leaving the player stuck.
v1.3.5
May 16, 2026- Ambient thumbnails no longer clip on focus. The shared row now reserves focus overflow room above, below, and across the carousel so 16:9 Ambient thumbnails can scale without being cut off by the row or scroll container.
- Ambient YouTube playback starts reliably. The player now lets the WebView receive its muted state first, then arms playback after the iframe is ready. That avoids Android TV's blocked unmuted-autoplay path and makes remote play/pause work against a started player.
- Rows share one D-pad model. Home, Detail recommendations, Library watchlist, and Ambience all use the same locked-focus row: the first visible item stays focused while left/right and held left/right advance the row underneath it.
v1.3.4
May 16, 2026- Reverted the locked-leftmost row experiment. Several attempts at it kept introducing a focus bounce — pressing down from the hero would snap you back up. Rows are back to the proven scroll-through-items model. Locked-leftmost remains a wish-list item; it needs on-device debugging to land cleanly.
- Ambience overlay can now dislodge a stuck embed. When YouTube's autoplay is blocked by your TV's WebView, the overlay reads "Autoplay blocked — press OK to start playback" and one OK press forces a fresh iframe. Stacks every documented autoplay workaround (muted-start, UA trick, WebView gesture override, iframe reinit) so this should be a rare fallback rather than the norm.
- Back-to-exit toast cleaner. Auto-dismiss timeout dropped 8s → 4s, with a live countdown in the toast subtext.
- Carried over from v1.3.3: Ambience 16:9 thumbnails, debrid-player resolution readout, Settings section-aligned scrolling, curated Ambience catalog (no YouTube API key required).
v1.3.3
May 16, 2026- Ambience thumbnails render correctly. YouTube thumbnails were being squeezed into the movie-poster portrait format; they now render at their native 16:9 aspect with all clipping fixed.
- Resolution shown in the playback overlay. Debrid playback now shows the source resolution (1080p / 4K / etc.) under the title in the overlay top bar, alongside Ambience's existing Quality readout.
v1.3.2
May 16, 2026- Ambience without setup. The "YouTube API Key" field is gone from Settings — Ambience now plays from a curated catalog of long, ad-light videos that ships inside the app. ~80 picks across Ambience / Rain / Nighttime rows, with the same daily-shuffle ordering as before.
- Settings scrolls by section. Arrowing through Settings now snaps the focused section's title to the top of the page, in both directions. No more drifting mid-section as you move through controls.
v1.3.1
May 16, 2026- Back from the rail works everywhere. Library and Settings now collapse the expanded sidebar with Back, same as Home and Search.
- "Press back again to exit" confirm. When Back would otherwise close the app, you get a small toast instead. Tap OK to stay, press Back again to exit, or wait 8s for it to auto-dismiss.
- Force Reinstall in Settings → Updates. Always available — even on the latest version — for troubleshooting a clean install.
- Multi-addon submissions on the pair-from-phone form. Drop a comma- or semicolon-separated list of manifest URLs and the TV installs each one sequentially with a per-row status badge.
- Easy Read Mode is now wired up. Toggling it scales text up, drops decorative chrome (kickers, hints, captions), disables focus animations and the hero carousel, and bumps secondary-text contrast.
- Motion polish, ten places. Floating Rosso indicator that glides between rail items, screen cross-fades on route changes, shimmering skeleton rows while content loads, spring-snap on the watchlist confirmation toast, press-flash on every button, slow Ken-Burns zoom on the hero, long-press progress fill on posters, slide-up entrance for the scrub HUD, animated fill on Continue Watching progress bars, and a spring-scale entrance on Settings dropdown pickers. All of it auto-suppresses under Easy Read Mode.
v1.3
May 16, 2026- Pure-black canvas. The app floor is now true black so OLED panels have no backlighting between content. The sidebar keeps its warm shade so it still reads as a distinct surface, and hero images blend seamlessly into the page.
- Tighter rows, smaller posters. Cards are ~17% smaller, titles below posters are gone, and row spacing is dialed in so more content fits per screen. One D-pad press now moves through exactly one row.
- Player overlay lives in the bottom third. Controls now stack hint → play/pause+skip → timeline (flush with the bottom edge). The loading spinner re-centers; the hidden-overlay scrub bar is slimmer and sits just above the bottom.
- Watchlist popup redesigned. Long-press a poster and a small action sheet appears anchored over the card. Focus stays trapped inside the popup (no more background scrolling), buttons have a clear focused state, Cancel is reachable, and a "✓ Added to Watchlist" toast slides in to confirm.
- Back collapses the expanded rail. When the sidebar is wide because focus is on a rail item, pressing Back snaps it back to its narrow width and returns focus to the top of the page content.
- One press up jumps to the full hero. Scrolling up from the first row used to leave the hero half-cropped; now it lands in a single step with the hero fully visible.
v1.2
May 16, 2026- Player overlay lands at the bottom. Controls, scrubber, and the loading spinner now anchor to the bottom of the screen instead of floating mid-frame — easier to read while you're paying attention to the film.
- Search remembers where you were. Back out of a search result and your query, results, and scroll position return intact. Picking Search from the sidebar still opens fresh.
- First search result no longer clips. The leftmost poster's focus animation had room to grow into; now it does.
- Long-press to manage your watchlist. Hold OK on any movie or show poster (Home, Search, Library, Recommendations) to add it — or remove it if it's already there. Episode posters skip the menu, as expected.
- In-app updates. New Settings → Updates section. Press Check for updates and the app pulls the latest version from marquee.danhorntx.com; if a newer build is out there you get a one-press install handoff. Otherwise: "You have the latest version!"
v1.1
May 15, 2026- Player title overlay. The top bar now shows the show name and episode (e.g. The Bear · S2E5) or movie title — no more raw release filenames.
- Removed playback-speed controls. Playback is always 1×. The speed button is gone from the player overlay and the corresponding option has been retired from Settings.
v1.0
May 12, 2026- Initial Android TV release. Sideload-only build for the couch.
- Stremio addon protocol. Bring your own catalogs — debrid, metadata, subtitles flow through the addon layer.
- TMDB-powered browse. Posters, backdrops, and trending rows feed the home screen.
- D-pad-first player. Custom overlay, hold-to-scrub, embedded subtitle support, watchlist, continue watching, and an Up Next interstitial for episode auto-queue.
- Pair-from-phone onboarding. Configure addons and the TMDB key from a browser instead of typing on the remote.
