Privacy Notice
What Marquee stores, what it doesn't, and where your data actually travels.
Effective: May 15, 2026
The short version
Marquee is a local-first client. There is no Marquee server, no account, no analytics, no tracking pixels, and no telemetry. Your watch history, addon list, and preferences live on your TV. Everything else happens directly between your device and the third-party services you choose to configure.
1. What stays on your device
Marquee writes the following to local storage on your Android TV (MMKV for preferences, SQLite for watch state, the Android Keychain for credentials):
- Addon URLs you've added and their on/off order.
- Watch progress and watchlist, with cached titles and poster paths for offline rendering.
- Playback preferences — preferred audio and subtitle language, subtitle mode, skip step, subtitle size.
- Credentials for services you sign into (TMDB API key, debrid OAuth tokens), stored in the OS keystore.
Uninstalling the app removes all of the above. There is no cloud backup unless your TV's OS backs up the app, in which case Android's standard rules apply.
2. What leaves your device, and where it goes
Marquee makes outbound network calls only to:
- Addon URLs you configured, for catalog, metadata, and stream queries.
- TMDB (themoviedb.org), using your API key, for titles, posters, and episode metadata.
- Debrid providers you authenticated against, for OAuth handshakes and stream resolution.
- Direct stream URLs returned by those services, when you press Play.
Each of those services has its own privacy practices and terms. Marquee does not proxy these requests through anything we run.
3. What we don't collect
- No analytics, crash reporting, or A/B test framework.
- No advertising or ad identifiers.
- No social or contact graph.
- No location data.
- No user account on our side — there is nothing to sign up for.
4. The "Pair from Phone" flow
Marquee can run a tiny embedded HTTP server on your TV so a phone on the same Wi-Fi network can hand off addon URLs or a TMDB key without remote-typing. This server:
- Only listens while the pairing screen is open.
- Is reachable only on your local network, not the public internet.
- Does not relay traffic to any third party.
5. The marquee.danhorntx.com website
This site hosts the APK and these notes. The hosting provider's normal web-server logs (IP address, user agent, requested path, timestamp) may be retained for operational and security purposes. The site itself does not set tracking cookies, does not load third-party analytics, and does not embed advertising.
The page loads the Inter typeface from Google Fonts. If you'd rather not make that request, most browsers can be configured to block third-party font hosts.
6. Children
Marquee is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
7. Your choices
- Sign out of any service from Settings in the app to revoke its credentials.
- Uninstall the app to remove all locally stored data.
- Each addon, debrid, and metadata provider has its own data-deletion process — refer to theirs.
8. Changes to this notice
Material changes to data handling will land here with an updated effective date. The Changelog will also note any release that introduces new network behavior.
